Adoption Information

Any underlined phrases on this page contain linked resources of helpful web pages with more information.

There's no better feeling than when we match one of our precious kittens with their caring new owner. It's why we put so much time, love, and effort into making sure these special animals continue to be bred. We are a T.I.C.A registered cattery and are searchable under the name of 'mischievousrags'. We also voluntarily abide by their code of ethics. Our cattery certificate is also linked here.

Our breeding cats are confirmed to be healthy by a vet, genetically tested negative against PKD, HCM, FIV, FeLV through Wisdom Panel, and we provide a one-year genetic health guarantee for all of our kittens. We spay/neuter, vaccinate, de-worm, and microchip all of our kittens before they're adopted. Our kittens will have their first two rounds of FVRCP but will need a third round from their new vet between 16-18 weeks.

Our kittens are ready to go to their new homes between 14 and 16 weeks old. Each of them is lovingly socialized with children, and pets and environmentally stimulated so that they will be ready to join your family. We highly encourage the adopter to have their new kitten examined by their new veterinarian within a few days of going to their new home to build a rapport with your vet, and so they can receive their final vaccine.

Each kitten will come with a small food bag, favorite toy, vet records, and paperwork for registering their microchip. Our kittens are litter-trained at four weeks old, and accustomed to both traditional litter boxes as well as Litter-Robots to ease their transition into their new homes. They are fed a diet of Blue Buffalo Healthy Grow Kitten Kibble, and we use Fresh Step Febreeze Clumping Cat Litter. As for their favorite toys, they love springs, laser pointers, and tower tracks. I also recommend getting them a cat tree/scratching post so that they have a place to climb. I highly recommend the wooden brands as they're very sturdy and easy to clean.

As they are growing kittens, we free-feed them the dry kibble as well as provide them with Blue Buffalo canned wet food once a day. We recommend not feeding them a strict diet of wet food and always having dry food available to them. Ragdolls can be picky eaters and if provided with canned food too often, they will prefer it over dry, which in turn will damage their teeth in the long run as the chewing cleans their teeth and keeps tartar at bay. There are pros/cons to both diets if not fed in conjunction with one another, but please consult your vet to decide what is best for your cat as they grow. This article on PetMD comparing the two diets can also help you make an informed decision.

We have a no-declawing policy and require our kittens to go to a home where they will be an INDOOR CAT. Generally, an outdoor environment poses many dangers for cats, but Ragdolls, being so docile, are particularly defenseless. It's also important to be mindful of POISONOUS HOUSEPLANTS/FLOWERS/PRODUCE that can be deadly to cats/kittens - especially around the holidays as consumption of mistletoe or poinsettias could prove deadly. Lillies, Azaleas, Hydrangeas, Chocolate, and Onions are all very poisonous as well.

The adoption fee for each of our kittens is $2800, or $5000 for two of them. A non-refundable deposit of $500 (per kitten) is required to reserve your kitten. Ragdolls are a very social breed, so we strongly recommend that they are either adopted in pairs, go to a home with another cat, or to a home where they will have a lot of human interaction.

We currently are accepting requests to join our waitlist for future litters for a non-refundable deposit of $250. Once your kitten is selected, we require the remaining $250 deposit to be paid via our Venmo account @mischievousragdolls. Please email us for more information.

Adoption Sales Policy

We are a trusted Cat Breeder with a passion for Ragdolls. We breed for exceptional temperament and ensure we always maintain the highest possible standards for our kittens and because of this, we have a very strict sales policy to ensure everyone is protected.

All of our kittens must be spayed/neutered by our vet before going home, so kittens must stay in our care until they are properly recovered. Once they’ve healed from their surgeries, they are available between 12-16 weeks old where they can bond with their forever families. Their surgeries are scheduled with our vet around 8 weeks old and are completed around 12-15 weeks old depending on gender and size. We very occasionally have older kittens/cats for adoption, so please inquire if you're interested in one that is more grown. We very occasionally have older kittens/cats for adoption, so please inquire if you're interested in one that is more grown.

Once their surgery date is scheduled you will be provided with a weekend pickup date in which your kitten(s) will be ready to go home. We offer a ten-day grace period to pick up your kitten, however, we do charge a fee of $25 per day after this, or $150 for an additional week. If you have extenuating circumstances or need to bring home the kitten at a later date, please contact us, and we will do our best to make an accommodation for you.

We are a Closed Cattery.

We are a "closed" cattery which means we do not allow anyone to visit our kittens until the day they go to their new homes to practice 1. biosecurity (disease control) for all of our animals' health and well-being, 2. safety to our pets, and 3. safety to our privacy.  Post-COVID, we don't typically hold appointments or meetings with kittens to choose which is best because kittens typically have deposits placed on them well before they're ready to go home, and it’s stressful for our nursing mothers to have frequent visitors as well as stressful for our kittens to meet several families a day while trying to live a relaxed lifestyle.

We are always happy to send pictures/videos, we update our website/social media frequently, and are always amenable to arranging a FaceTime with adopters who are seriously interested in purchasing a kitten. Our pets' safety and security come first and we appreciate your understanding!

All Deposits are Non-Refundable.

When kittens become available, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve them. We accept deposits through Zelle or Venmo, and the remaining $2300 balance is paid at the time the kitten goes to their new home. All of our kittens are $2800 each regardless of gender or color marking.  Prices are non-negotiable. We also cannot accept a higher offering price to move you up in line. Please respect our sales policy and respect the other adopters who may be in front of you in line on our waitlist. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferable to a different (future) litter.

Our Contract

At the time of adoption, we provide you with a contract/sales guarantee outlining our one-year genetic-health guarantee, our no de-clawing/outdoor cat policy as well as confirming what you agreed to on your kitten application. It will also act as a receipt of payment.

We Reserve the Right to Cancel any Sale (With a Refund)

We're experienced breeders and must feel comfortable that our kittens are going to loving, responsible homes.  We reserve the right to cancel any sale, and in that case, we will refund the deposit to you and place the kitten back up for adoption. Their well-being is our utmost responsibility and concern, and it's important to us that they go to homes that are prepared to care for them for the rest of their lives.

Please see the below resources for more information on what you should expect and what other supplies you should buy for your new kitten. We always miss our kittens when they go to their new homes but are excited for them to join loving families.
